David L. J. Coduto

Terra President and Chief Executive Officer

After graduating from San Francisco State University, Mr. Coduto joined Arthur Andersen & Company, and specialized in audit, tax and internal control analysis and reviews. He later joined Design Professionals Insurance Company (DPIC) and became its Treasurer, Chief Financial Officer, and a Director on DPIC's Board. In addition to his other responsibilities, he served as a consultant and DPIC’s account representative to Terra Insurance Limited (“TIL,” Terra RRG’s predecessor company), which at the time owned close to a controlling interest in DPIC.

From 1984 through 1990, Mr. Coduto provided independent financial consulting services to DPIC as well as other large insurance companies. While still continuing his independent consulting practice, Mr. Coduto became directly involved in the management of TIL in 1985. At that time, Terra was considering a domicile and corporate form change due to regulatory, tax and other cost considerations. As a result, Mr. Coduto was instrumental in the 1988 formation of the U.S. based Terra Insurance Company, A Risk Retention Group (“Terra RRG”), and became Terra’s President and CEO in early 1989.

During Mr. Coduto's tenure as President and CEO, Terra has persisted as one of the most reliable, highest rated and well-run professional liability insurers in the United States. And for every calendar year he has been President, Terra has generated net income and growth in its stock value. Under his leadership, Terra can now boast 100 consecutive quarters of earnings, and 25 consecutive years of growth in book value per share.
