Hoppe Elected to Terra Insurance Company Board
Corte Madera, CA - Kevin B. Hoppe, P.E. has been elected to the board of directors of Terra Insurance Company, America’s highest-rated risk-retention group. Established in 1968, Terra specializes in professional liability insurance coverages for civil engineers, geotechnical engineers, environmental professionals, and construction materials engineering and testing firms.
Mr. Hoppe is the board chair, chief financial officer, and treasurer of NTH Consultants, Ltd., an infrastructure and environmental engineering firm headquartered in Detroit, Michigan. NTH’s staff comprises some 300 employees who serve a diverse Midwest and Mid-Atlantic client base from nine offices throughout Michigan, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Indiana.
Mr. Hoppe has more than 25 years’ experience in the fields of geodynamic, geotechnical, and environmental engineering, serving as a project consultant, project manager, project
engineer, and expert witness. He manages all NTH business operations, including human resources, information technology, marketing, and accounting. He also plays a key role in setting NTH’s strategic direction, and leads NTH’s award-winning Project Management Academy. A past president of ASFE/The Best People on Earth, Mr. Hoppe currently chairs the organization’s Council of Fellows. He is also affiliated with the Consulting Engineers Council of Michigan, the American Society of Civil Engineers, and the Society for Marketing Professional Services/Michigan Chapter, for which he chairs the Board of Influence.
As a risk-retention group, Terra is owned totally by its insureds. A.M. Best Company – the internationally recognized insurance-company rating organization – has given Terra a stated rating of “A, Excellent” and an implied rating of “A++, Superior.” According to Best, Terra is “the highest-rated, single-line homogenous insurer in the United States.” The company’s owner/insureds bill from $500,000 to more than $100 million in gross fees annually.
