Terra To Host "PLI Q&A Hospitality Suite" April 10-11, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, during ASFE Meeting
Corte Madera, CA - All persons attending
the upcoming Spring (Annual) Meeting of ASFE/The
Best People on Earth are invited to stop in at a "PLI
Q&A Hospitality Suite" hosted by senior members of
Terra Insurance Company management, Thursday,
April 10, 2008, 2:15PM-4:15PM, and Friday, April 11,
1:00PM-2:45PM, at the Intercontinental San Juan
hotel, San Juan, Puerto Rico. Those insured by Terra
and those insured by others are encouraged to ask
whatever questions they have about professional
liability (PL) insurance, current and projected PL
insurance market conditions, trends in coverage,
policy types available, appropriate coverages, and so
on.
Founded in 1968, and now North American
engineering's second-oldest PL insurance company,
Terra today operates as a risk-retention group. It
provides a variety of PL insurance products to civil
engineering, environmental, geoprofessional, and
construction-materials engineering and testing firms
that gross from $500,000 to more than $100 million
annually. Terra CEO David L. Coduto will be on hand
each day, along with Lisa Dyson Gamblin, Esq.,
Terra's vice president for claim administration and
risk management, and Hal S. Arditti, Terra's treasurer
and chief financial officer.
According to Mr. Coduto, "Sometimes people
are reluctant to ask us questions because they're not
Terra insureds. But we genuinely want to help all
ASFE members. We're hopeful that being available to
all meeting attendees will add value to the ASFE
meeting and make Terra's attitude clear. We want to
help."
The same firms that originated Terra also originated
ASFE. ASFE is a not-for-profit association that
develops programs, services, and materials its
member firms apply to "prosper through
professionalism." Terra requires its insureds to use
ASFE materials and participate in ASFE programs as
a condition of their continued insurability.
"Terra believes that the materials developed by ASFE,
and its programs, like Peer Review, BackYard
Seminars, and Fundamentals of Professional
Practice, are the best available anywhere," Mr. Coduto
said. "And the results of using them show up in the
performance of Terra's insureds. At a time when the
frequency of claims is threatening to again thin the
ranks of America's PL insurance companies, Terra
has just completed a year where our insureds
achieved their lowest claims frequency in the
company's history. That's the kind of performance that
has made Terra so successful." As of September 30,
2007, Terra's stock value achieved its 78th
consecutive quarterly record high. Terra has not yet
announced the company's performance as of
December 31, 2007. "I'm looking forward to making
our 2007 performance known," Mr. Coduto said.
According to A.M. Best Company - the internationally
recognized insurance-company rating organization -
Terra is "the highest-rated risk-retention group in the
United States." Best has given Terra a stated rating
of "A, Excellent" and an implied rating of "A++,
Superior."
