Corte Madera, CA - Lisa Dyson Gamblin, Esq. is Terra Insurance Company’s new vice president for claim administration and risk management. Terra is a risk-retention group that specializes in professional liability insurance products for civil, environmental, and geoprofessional engineering firms.

A graduate of UCLA and the prestigious Santa Clara University School of Law, Ms. Gamblin joined the staff of a Costa Mesa, CA law firm soon after being admitted to the California State Bar, in 1993. There she performed various aspects of insurance coverage and defense litigation, including complex construction, environmental, and asbestos-related matters. She continued that focus with a San Francisco law firm and, in 1999, was selected to be a claims supervisor for the DPIC Companies, a professional liability insurer specializing in coverage for design professionals.

XL Insurance-Design Professional absorbed DPIC-policyholders’ renewal rights in August 2001 and selected Ms. Gamblin to be its regional claim manager responsible for all claims reported from offices west of the Mississippi River. Her responsibilities also included contract review and continuing education for design and environmental professionals.

“We’re delighted to have Lisa on staff, Terra CEO David L. Coduto said. “She has broad-based, in-depth experience with an array of important insurance issues in general, and design professional liability insurance matters in particular. Ms. Gamblin will replace Terra Vice President Gilson S. Riecken, R.A., J.D., who will retire at the end of March 2008. Mr. Coduto noted that “Lisa will work side-by-side with Gilson for more than three months, starting in mid-December, so we can effect a seamless transition of claim and risk-management responsibilities.

As a risk-retention group, Terra is owned totally by its insureds. According to A.M. Best Company – the internationally recognized insurance company rating organization – Terra is “the highest-rated risk-retention group in the United States. Best has given Terra a stated rating of “A, Excellent and an implied rating of “A++, Superior.

Terra’s heritage extends to 1969, when it “began life as an offshore captive.
